The deposit is located
in the Helmstedt basin near Uhry. The quartz sand is extracted with modern
suction dredgers from below ground water level and becomes washed and sized in
hydroclassifiers. To obtain very narrow size ranges, part quantities of the sand
are dry sized with the help of screening machines of the latest screen
generation. High-quality top grades with very low iron and titanium contents are
produced by gravity and magnetic separation. |
